Material properties
SS400 is a common carbon structural steel with a tensile strength of ≥400MPa and a carbon content of about 0.16%-0.22% (low carbon steel). It has strength, plasticity and weldability. As the thickness increases, the yield strength decreases slightly:
When the thickness is less than 16mm, the yield strength is ≥245MPa
When the thickness is 16-40mm, the yield strength is ≥235MPa
When the thickness is greater than 40mm, the yield strength is ≥215MPa ‌
