ASTM Schedule 40 Sch 80 Pipe Seamless Steel Pipe

Schedule 40 (SCH40): This is a standard wall thickness pipe, with a relatively thinner wall. For example, a 2-inch (approximately 50.8 mm) SCH40 seamless steel pipe has a wall thickness of about 3.91 mm, suitable for low-pressure environments not exceeding 0.6 MPa, such as hot and cold water pipes in ordinary residences.

Schedule 80 (SCH80): This is a thicker pipe, with a significantly increased wall thickness. A 2-inch SCH80 seamless steel pipe can have a wall thickness of up to 5.49 mm, capable of withstanding pressures above 1.0 MPa, and is commonly used in high-pressure hot water systems, industrial fluid transportation, and other applications requiring higher pressures.
